how tv magic is made

How TV magic is created

When I was at secondary school I visited UTV studios in Belfast. I can remember being very excited when I heard that it was on and that a classroom assist and a teacher who was a county footballer told me that it was on I was so excited. We went down in a car and got something to eat before entering and I couldn’t wait. I saw a TV show called All Mixed Up presented by Eamon Holmes  being filmed I also saw the ITV news desk. I saw the whole UTV studios including the news desk and other pieces of the studio and chatted to Adrian Logan about sport. I could not believe how organized the pl;ace was and how everybody knew their place I found this to be a wonderful experience and have helped with the fascination I had with TV.I felt so happy as I went to school the next day.

I am still appreciative still to this day of what the people at UTV and my school had done for me that day.

There is nothing more helpful sometimes than a good day out a lot of people can learn more this way

Music to my eyes and ears

Music to my eyes and ears

When I was at the  youth club,  a friend of my brothers took a video in with him of MTV  a sky channel and he showed me  my first video of Queen. I still remember this video to this day as I remember how energetic Freddie Mercury was and I just loved him so much.  I loved the others in Queen very much and it was at this point that a started to have a fascination with music. I also think that Micheal Jackson did brilliant videos and in this day and age there are people like Neyo who can do a good video today. I also like to listen to Adele, Rhianna and Beyonce.

Nowadays I use music videos to calm myself down if I am in a bad mood. Also if I am not thinking straight or seem to be a little muddled up in my head it helps to calm me down in a massive way. I tend to have the music very loud but when it is over I feel a lot calmer and can think better to get solutions. I whistle to the music which I enjoy.

Music can calm people down very quickly

sky

A new way to enjoy sports

Sky TV was a relatively new concept at this time and it meant that you had got a lot more options to choose from on your TV. There were things like Nickelodeons Keenan and Kel and Sister and TCCS Saved By the Bell and I could watch what I wanted and when I wanted to.
I can remember watching my first game on sky like it was yesterday I went down to my cousin’s house as we did not have Sky at home. So then when we got sky TV at home it was brilliant to have such choice

Nowadays I would watch a lot of shows on Sky from Nickelodeons I Carly and Victorious also cartoon Networks Ben 10 and Disney XDs Kickin It and also more adult shows like sky ones  Raising Hope and sky livings Criminal Minds and Supernatural also British shows like Mount Pleasant  . I think that what Sky have done for television is impressive and amazing

It is amazing how far that something can go in such a short period of time from sky to digital now every body must use digital. If you get an idea and it works you would be amazed how far it can go

how technology has helped me at school

How technology helped me at school

I moved school and this was a much better experience for me.  One of the difficulties I had was my writing was hard to read so the teachers in the school were able to get me a small typewriter so I could do my work and the teachers could read it. The typewriter was quite large but it was light enough so that i could carry it with me when I needed to go from class to class. It was called a Cannon Starwriter.
It was here that I was introduced how to use the internet whether for research or for my own personal reasons. When I started it was like a whole new world was opening up for me in a brilliant new way. How you could use a search engine to find what it was you wanted in seconds but there were problems with videos and this problem still has not been sorted to this day but the length of time it takes to find something is quicker

At this school I helped in the Library which had a computer system for storing and finding books. When I left the secondary school I then went to College.
This is where my interest in media started. There were times at the tech where I was doing very little so I used to play 8 ball pool online.
At College I got interested in Media Studies and  my interested really started to develop.

Technology is something that you need to learn at school as it will make you a lot smarter in the long run

my first pc

My first PC

The computers at primary schools were quite basic. There were games for learning but the one game that I remember very well was a game where you had to move this small ledge left and right to make sure that a square doesn’t goes into the black. I must have spent hours on it again this probably helped my concentration.

One of the first things that I remember is how basic the writing packages were when it came to computers and I look at all the options and shortcuts that there are now. There are many more choices  on games My uncle got me a CB radio for Christmas when I was about nine. I remember spending a lot of time on it.  My CB name was Shadow (gladiators ITV) from the We E and I used to talk to people on CB channels. The concept was to get involved in other peoples conversations so I loved it

Talking to someone on a CB radio was very tricky especially when you think that all you could hear was an analogue frequency (when you tune in your TV). This was one of the things that annoyed me a little bit.

I feel that is important to get children on computers as soon as you can not just for work for games and other things too
